Age: Mid-40's
Gender: Male
Family:
Father: Mr. Cain (First Name Eludes Me)
Step-Mother: Sharon Xavier-Cain
Step-Brother: Charles Xavier
Special Abilities
- Invulnerability/Super Strength: Juggernaut is essentially invulnerable to all forms of physical attack. He is also able to lift in great excess of 100 tons.
- Personal Forcefield: Cain can create a forcefield around himself at will, capable of increasing his already greatly abundant defense. It also makes it virtually impossible to stop him once he starts moving. The only figures seen to be able to physically stop Juggernaut from moving forward include, but are not limited to, Superman, an extremely confident Gladiator, and an extremely enraged Hulk.
- Magic Armor: Juggernaut is able to summon his usual armor at will. The armor, except for the helmet, is as invulnerable to damage as he himself is.
- Fueled by Gem of Cyttorak: As his powers are granted by the mystical Gem of Cyttorak, Juggernaut is fully sustained by the energies of the gem. He does not need to eat, sleep, or breathe and is essentially immortal. Along with this, Juggernaut's body, while it can be damaged, almost instantly repairs any damage caused. He has even been known to function as a skeleton.
- Psionic Shielding Helmet: As long as Cain has his helmet on, no psychic can peer into his mind, or use their skills against him.
Weaknesses
- Psychics: Juggernauts single greatest weakness is his mind. If his helmet can be removed, and a psychic can get into his mind, Juggernaut would be defenseless, and quickly beaten.
- Magic: Though he can handle it, all forms of magic (including force powers) affect Juggernaut adversely.
Brief History [Spoilers][/size]
With his mother dying at a young age, Cain Marko was raised by his abusive father for the formative years of his life, until the death Brian Xavier, a colleague of his fathers. Remarrying Sharon Xavier, the mother of Charles Xavier, Cain and Charles became brothers, and Cain grew to hate and loathe his half brother, mostly out of jealousy. No matter what Cain did, his father showed preference to Charles, causing Cain to act as a bully figure to his younger step-brother. After Charles' powers developed, he accidentally read Cain's mind, and discovered his jealousy, causing more problems between them. During an argument with his father, Cain accidentally started a fire. Showing his preference for Charles a last time, Cain's father first saved Charles, then died of smoke inhalation after returning to save Cain.
Some time later, both Charles and Cain become members of the United States Army in the Korean War. During a mission, Cain deserted his unit, causing Charles to come after him to bring back before they got in trouble. Ignoring Charles, Cain wandered into a cave, which held the ancient Temple of Cyttorak. Finding the Ruby Gem of Cyttorak, Cain couldn't but to touch the gem. Upon contact, an earthquake threatened to cause a cave in. Realizing he had no other options, Charles left his step brother in the collapsing cave, seemingly leaving him to die.
Years later, Cain managed to dig his way out of the temple. Before seeking out his step-brother, Cain found the previous Juggernaut, and slaughtered both him and the village he'd been protecting to gain his full strength. Returning to America, he found that his younger step-brother had taken the old family estate, now Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, as his own. Attacking his brother to claim the home he felt was rightfully his, Cain was surprised to find himself subdued not by Charles, but by a group of young mutants working underneath him. After being defeated, Cain was held in a secret chamber of the X-Mansion's basement, as Charles sought a way to remove his powers. In a mishap brought by these experiments, Charles was knocked into a coma, and Cain gained some of his psychic powers. Discovering from Dr Strange that they needed to find the Ruby Gem of Cyttorak, the X-Men traveled to the temple, entering the Crimson Cosmos to get the gem they sought.
While they succeeded in saving Charles, they inadvertently trapped Cain in the Crimson Cosmos. For a time, Charles sought to return Cain to his home dimension, feeling that it was too cruel a fate to subject Cain to. After finally emerging, Juggernaut attacked the X-Men, demanding answers as to where Xavier, who was presumed dead at the time, happened to be. Before he could seek out his step-brother, Cain was once again trapped in the Crimson Cosmos.
After being sought by Dr Strange for help defeating Nightmare, Juggernaut found himself sent to yet another dimension, this one known as Oblivion. Here he remained for a time, leaving once and fighting Beast, before returning. However, the dimension wanted to be rid of him, and so offered him the chance to permanently return to Earth, if he gave up the magics he had learned in the Crimson Cosmos. Juggernaut readily agreed, and found himself back in Earth...
In the middle of a battle between Hulk and the US Army. At first, Juggernaut and Hulk fought together against the Army, until Juggernaut began endangering the lives of civilians, causing Hulk to attack him. The battle was a stalemate, until the X-Men showed up and, once again, defeated Juggernaut.
In prison, Juggernaut befriended fellow inmate Black Tom Cassidy, the cousin of X-Men member Banshee. Being freed from prison by Erik the Red, of the Shi'Ar. Setting up a base in Cassidy Keep, Juggernaut and Black Tom easily ambushed the X-Men when they came to the Keep for a vacation. However, the battle eventually ended with Banshee throwing Black Tom from the Keep's tower. Leaping into the water to save his friend, Juggernaut and Black Tom survived and continued to attack the X-Men over time.
Eventually the duo hired Arcade, against Juggernaut's advice, to capture and kill the X-Men. Not surprisingly, Arcade proved no more able to end the X-Men then the two had been themselves. After this, the duo attempted to use Banshee's daughter, Siryn, to help them rob a mint. Unfortunately, Cerebro registered Siryn, and she served only to cause more problems for the unlucky duo.
Deciding they needed someone else to work with them if they were going to succeed, they settled on Madam Web. However, when an overly excited Juggernaut removed Madam Web from her life support chair, she nearly died. Earning the rage of Spider-Man, Juggernaut was eventually defeated by being lured into an underground parking lot filled with wet cement. After several months of flexing and relaxing his muscles, Juggernaut managed to free himself.
His first action as a free man was to go to his favorite bar, and get a drink. While there, an immortal named Selene began flirting with him, hoping to feed on his life force and energy, unbeknownst to him. Surprisingly fortunate for him, the X-Man Colossus was at the same bar, and spilled his drink on Juggernaut, leading to a fight. Though he easily defeated Colossus, when the other X-Men showed up, Cain gave them money to cover the damages and left, wanting no more trouble.
Since walking away from that battle Cain has kept a pretty low profile. However, since the merging of various universes and the implementation of the Keene Act, Cain has returned. No longer seeking revenge against the X-Men or his step-brother, he's taken to working as a mercenary, working for whatever side had the best offer...

Having laid low for so long, Cain was surprised at how much had changed since his last appearance. He wasn't exactly upset that the X-Men were hated by people now, sure... And it didn't bother him to see some of the 'villains' he'd worked with previously doing well for themselves.
But this whole damned Keene Act left a bad taste in his mouth. He was the God damned Juggernaut... Who the hell had the right to tell him what to do? No of those idiots working for the government could actually make him sign anything, none of them could make him follow their rules... So, what was the point in doing it?
So he could get people to like him? Be seen as a hero? How the hell would that help him with anything? He didn't need people to love him, he needed people to do what he said, which they did regardless of who he worked for. Which, was anyone willing to pay him.
And for now, whoever it was seemed keen on getting this job done. He had to deliver a package, and he had to do it well. "So, ya want me ta get this thin taken ta Gotham, left in some kinda Iceberg Lounge or somethin'? Sounds easy enough, I'll take the job. I'll take payment upfront, pal."
