So, I'd like to introduce something...new here. A way for the TGD community to get to know each other a bit more. I'm going to have a question of the week. My questions will be about almost anything. Life, games, movies, and others. No arguing or debating here. This is the PEACEFUL Question of the Week thread. Of course you can say, "I respectfully disagree with you." Something like that. So let's get started, shall we? First Question: Best Animated Movie You've Seen?

Well, I have too many to count. But Spirited Away was good as was Nightmare Before Christmas.

The Lion King. This film, that had helped ccreate a new era, will always have a special place in my heart. Growin up with this very film, I can say I watched it once a week when I was a young child. This project was a miracle evolving right in front of my eyes. Such a deep and rich story, though not original, the Lion King was and still is very special to me. Simba is my favorite animated character of all time, I even named an olld dog of mine after him (RIP Simba. still love ya, boy). The characters were so interesting and developed to a point where I could feel for each and every one of them, even Scar.
The perfect visuals and colors to match an epic story. The musical part of it was not corny or boring, but fun and everlasting. Tears were shed, laughter was heard, and memories were made. I can still hear the crunching of the bones in the elephant graveyard and the stomping of the herd in the canyon. Each scene was unique and different, and they all fit perfectly like a puzzle. How could one even forget the greatness of an animated film such as this? Surely, they have temembered it's contents and glory. From the birth of Simba, to the death of Mufasa. From the elephant graveyard to the land of the jungle. If one movie could make a memory such as mine; it means that it is a perfect one :]

I have to go with Legend and Kent, Toy Story was the film of my childhood, I had all the merchandise, a Buzz Lightyear, a Woody, the audiobook version, even the Sega Megadrive game, and I can't help but well up when I hear Randy Newman's 'you got a friend in me'

Good answers everyone! Some of the movies you said, I'd never heard of. I'll have to check them out sometime. For those who described why you liked that movie, thanks! You did more than I asked for. Overachievers! Haha. My own personal favorite animated movie would have to be...Justice League: The New Frontier. I went into it thinking it was going to be a Kid's Movie...but it wasn't. Mentions of rape, lots of violence, and several other non-kiddie things were mentioned. Being a DC Fan, I loved it. Check it out if you haven't already. First Question: Best Animated Movie You've Seen?
Second Question: Best Movie Character Ever?

Sergeant Elias, from Platoon.
Platoon is yet another Vietnam War film, essentially about a civil war going on in the ranks of a platoon in Vietnam. There is Sergeant Barnes, the wicked, cruel sergeant, who massacres innocent civilians against orders, and then there is Sergeant Elias, a messiah figure, portrayed by Willem Defoe. When Elias goes into the jungles of Vietnam to ambush the Vietcong, Barnes, to prevent Elias from exposing Barnes' crimes, tracks him down. Elias greets him as a friend, before being gunned down by the murderous Barnes. As the rest of the platoon flies away, Elias, still alive but terribly wounded, makes his way out of the jungle, before being massacred by the Vietcong and throwing up his hands into the sky, in a Christ-like position.
He is a hero, a mentor, and he is one of the best movie characters ever.

I really like Andy Dufresne from the Shawshank Redemption, it's just an all-round heartwarming film, but they way he never gives up hope is touching, especially his letter to Red near the end of the film. It's also awesome how he uses his brain to improve the situation for his fellow prisoners and ultimately come out on top. He is truly an inspiration for all nerds.
