While Resho isn't a complete hermit, neither is he the most open person you'll ever meet. He doesn't get friendly with people at the drop of a hat, but he's sociable and friendly enough most of the time, and maintains a level of social normality which puts him...nowhere, really. He's neither here nor there in status. Some people like him for his attitude, and some people don't.
He's also an extremely annoying person most of the time, because he is, to be blunt...a moron. Mostly, this is intentional, just to irritate people some of the time, but he is, as well, truly clueless at times. Don't misunderstand; he's smart enough by most standards, but he lacks common sense at the most crucial and critical of times, which often lands him in trouble, or lands his friends and/or allies in trouble, with or without him.
And, contrary to his power set, he actually doesn't like to fight unless he has to. He prefers to talk his way out of things and, if he must, intimidate his opponents into leaving him be should it come to it. But when he has t ofight, he does so with extreme prejudice, and goes to neutralize his opponent as quickly as possible without killing them. Even if there is no other way, he will still try not to use lethal force until the very end, which often gets unnecissarily drug out due to his dislike of killing.
[/blockquote]Extraordinary Features
Powers & AbilitiesWeaknesses
- Resho's main power is his 'crystal form', as it has been called. He is able to turn his entire body into some type of crystal, alike to diamond, but much more durable. This takes a few seconds to do, but once it's done, all his other powers come out to play!
- An extension of his power is that he can turn anything he can physically get ahold of into the same diamond-like substance, for as long as he can keep hold of it. He often uses this to make improvised weapons or things of the like. In addition, he can bestow this power on other people, so long as he can touch them, mostly to protect them from harm or some such things.
- When in his crystal form, Resho is incredibly resistant to injury. In fact, it's almost impossible to hurt him by nearly any physical means. He's taken a direct blast from an RPG and not even slow down from a bull charge, been shot at by a minigun which tore through the steel wall behind him, and even taken a direct a high-explosive ballistic missle without any visible signs of discomfort. It's theorized, mostly by himself, that he's completely invulnerable, and so far this has been the case, but he has yet to go up against anyone with 'real' power, so it's hard to jude adequately if this is true. His boasting has even gone so far as to proclaim he is, in fact, "...just as rough and tough, if not even tougher, than Superman!" And this seems to be grounded in some level of truth to this; at one point, he took a direct, ground-zero blast from a nuclear bomb, and came out standing. He was torn up from the blast, but claimed to be "Better than ever!"
- In his crystal form, Resho also has massively enhanced physical strength. The upper limits of his strength haven't been clearly defined, as he's never pushed his limits, but he has been seen to have phenomenal strength. He hasn't exactly pushed his limits, but he's been able to toss large vehicles out of the way with zero effort, and plow through trees and boulders in the wilderness without even batting an eye. When greatly over-exaggerating his abilities, one of his 'friends' compared his physical strength to the likes of Superman and Juggernaut. Resho just looked at his friend like he was crazy. He knows he isn't that strong, but he doesn't know how strong he is, either. But, he has managed to lift 100 tons without much effort at one point, and can likely lift more than that if he were to exert enough effort. He has managed to shift 500 tons a few feet, but it caused him no end of discomfort afterward. His 'practical' limit is 200 tons, but with some training he could probably increase his strength even further.
- His enhanced strength also gives him a moderate amount of enhanced speed. Despite how unwieldy and slow his body would seem while transformed, he's actually faster while transformed, and can reach a maximum of thirty miles an hour at a full-on sprint. Not exactly fast compared to most superhumans, but when combined with his outstanding resiliance and strength......
- In addition, while in his crystal form, he is self-sufficient. He doesn't require air to breathe, and he can go without food and water for an indefinite period of time. This includes stamina; while transformed, he can last for prolonged periods, reaching into an indefinite limit, without rest or sustenance of any kind. Possibly due to the fact that while transformed, his body produces no fatigue toxins whatsoever, enabling him to have, in theory, limitless physical stamina. He is also immune to all types of diseases and viruses, rendering him effectively immune to chemical and biological weapons of all sorts.
- Resho's mind is just as tough as the rest of his body. His mind is effectively shielded from mental attack by barriers of his own stubbornness, pride, overconfidence, and a massive amount of willpower and his structure makes it harder for telepaths to even get into his mind to begin with, while his mental 'attitude' makes affecting his mind diffucult. This doesn't make him immune to telepaths, it just makes him somewhat more resilient to them, giving him those precioues few extra seconds to do something about the mental intrusion before he's...well, you know.
- And finally, to wrap up Resho's powers, his crystal body is naturally reflective and refractive. Any light that hits his body is bent and refracted by his crystalline structure, and can become quite a nuiscance and annoyance when refracted and shone upon his opponents. This property also makes it harder to damage him with most types of energy as, if they hit wrong, they'll just ricochet off at random angles, or even be reflected right back, making him hard to damage reliably with energy.
- While not an expert at it by any means, Resho is at least an adequate thinker and planner. He can manage to pull together a plan of attack in the midst of battle, and carry it out with some degree of efficiency.
- Resho has trained himself to fight all on his own. He's not perfect, but his training has been intense and through to the poitn of injuring himself a few times in his human form. He's quite capable of fighting off most opponents without transforming, in terms of skill, and his skill doesn't diminish when transformed, though some of his moves do leave him because of his loss of flexibility in his crystal state.
- And lastly, while not a power by any means, Resho is quite skilled at playing the guitar. He's been called 'masterful' by a few people, but they were probably just trying to fan the fire that is his ego. Right? But, regardless...he has even gone so far as to develop a 'combat style' utilizing his instrument, which he always seems to have with him. A bit odd, at the very least, but it is, nonetheless, effective.
- Resho's main weakness would be that, while he is in his normal human form, he is just that; human. In every was possible, he's just an average, run-of-the-mill human teenager. Anything that can hurt a human, can hurt him. And his stamina and such are also normalized when not transformed.
- While Resho's mind is hardened and resistant against telepathic assaults, Resho himself is quite vulnerable to psychic assaults. He can't defend against telekinetic powers for the most part, his only option being to break their hold with all due expedience, or...once again, you know what happens.
- Magic. While not exactly damaging against him moreso than usual, he has no defenses against it. Meaning it will hit with its full might every time, and is generally quite a reliable way to damage him.
- Resho's biggest weakness, however, would be if someone could actually hit him just right with an energy attack. Finding just the right angle, so that the blast isn't redirected or reflected, and actually damages him, is...disastrous. The energy, with nowhere to go, gets reflected constantly inside his body, causing more and more damage, until it eventually burns itself out. But this is...horrible, as such internal damage is debilitating and can slow Resho down greatly.

The Role-Player
- Current Residence: Metropolis
Resho's life was fairly ordinary, with nothing really outstanding happening to him, up until the day of his fourteenth birthday. It was on that day, which, to be honest, seemed just like any other, that his powers first manifested, and...wrecked his life. You see, for the longest while, he couldn't control when his powers would decide to 'turn on', or for how long they would stay active.
This led to some terrible occurrences. He got into a fight once and his powers triggered, and he nearly left his 'opponent' dead from just one swipe which barely even connected. This scared him more than anything. If he could take a life without even meaning to...what could he do if he DID mean to cause someone harm? It scared him out of his mind. If he lost himself to anger, or just lost it in any way, shape or form in general. It was...mind-numbing.
And so...he made up his mind after that incident, in a hurry. He gathered up what he could, and then...well, to put it flatly, he hauled ass. He just ran as far as he could, until he reached an old abandoned town. Probably used to be nice and busy, but now... Heh, looked like it could have been abandoned for two or three decades. Just the spot to try and get accustomed to his powers. Or...to try to, at any rate. And he set about to do just that.
And for almost half a year things went uneventfully. He trained and practiced his powers, trying to at the least gain control of them, so he could keep his 'transformation' in check. It was diffucult going, but he managed to gain control of his 'crystal form', as he dubbed it. He could change at will, with a few seconds of focus. But, he was still prone to unintentionally change when stressed; particularly fear and anger.
But then all semblance of a normal life went down the drain. He laid down for a long night's sleep and when he awoke, he was shackled and chained with some kind of energy chains. He tried to transform, but the moment the first slivers of crystal began to appear, he felt a mind-destroying shock rip through his body, and everything faded to white for a moment. And when he came to, he could see someone sitting in a chair in front of him.
And...that was all. She just sat there, staring at him. After a few seconds in which his mind cleared of the fuzz from the massive 'shock' he'd gotten, he noticed she was chained in a similar fashion. He blinked and started to speak, but she just shrugged. He cocked his head to one side. "Uh...how...?"
"She does that. Don't ask how, don't worry how, just accept it. It's why she's here. My situation is why I'm here. And, apparently, the crystal stuff is why you're here. And...I'm not really sure why Mr. Spooky over there is here. He's not even chained, but apparently he can't escape, so...I dunno,"
Resho turned his attention to who had spoken and saw...nothing. Just a vague shroud where the voice came from. "Who...said that?"
"Oh, right..." Someone stepped forward. It hadn't been a shroud at all...just a trick of the dim light. Wearing all black, he had hidden near perfectly in the darkness. "Name's...Shade, apparently. I can 'blend in' where I choose. And...it's become a bit impossible not to, at times. Girl here...well, she doesn't talk, so don't know much. And mister happy over there is Drake. Dunno much about him either, he's kinda mysterious."
Drake let out a low, whimpering sound, like a growl, and sank down to sit on the floor.
"Oh crap... Stay quiet and don't move. The Commandant's coming." Shade whispered, then slunk back into the shadows.
Resho was about to ask what was going on, but the girl in the chair shook her head again and Resho just sighed and went quiet.
A moment later, a door opened and the light was blocked by a massive figure which blocked the doorway. Seeing just his silouhette, Resho could tell he was no good through and through. He could catch an eerie gleam in his eyes, and when his gaze passed over him, he felt a chill and seemingly lost the ability to breathe for the short while the Commandant's gaze lingered on him. "..... Seem normal. Good." And then the door closed again. "Prepare for Alpha Test immediately."
"Yes, sir!"
And then everything was quiet again.
"Well...you heard it...the Alpha Test," Sade mumbled. "We are...to be blunt, screwed. No one survives it, no one is ever seen again after the test. Nice known' you guys."
"Hold on a minute... What is this 'Alpha Test'? And for that matter, where am I? And how the hell did I get here, for that matter?"
"It doesn't matter where you are. We don't know either. And the Alpha Test... Well, you have to fight the Commandant in a 'sparring' session. It's suicide. Just being near him sucks all the energy out of you. Actually getting close enough to fight him would probably kill you, or at the least put you in a coma."
"Yikes..." Resho mumbled. "Well, I'm not liking that. Time to get out of here." And he closed his eyes, and tried to transform again. Once again, the mind-ripping shock tore through him, but...it seemed much less potent this time. Whatever the reason, he managed to complete ihs transformation. "Alright!" And he ripped the bindings on him apart like they were made of paper. "Time to rumble..."
"Uh, hey...ya mind freeing us, too?" Shade asked offhandedly. "I mean, otherwise you'd be condemining us to death, ya know?"
"Uh...right! I was gonna do that!" And he did just that, freeing his three 'friends', and then with a swift kick caved the door in, and with a second, knocked it flying. "Let's blow this place!"
And the four of them ran, with Drake nowhere to be seen for most of the escape, save for a few times where he would appear in front of them and signal which way to go at a fork, then vanish again. And, strangely enough, they didn't encounter any resistance on the way out. Well...no human resistance, anyway.
But then they made it out, and came face to face with...the Commandant. And Drake standing at his side. "I'm sorry, my 'friends'... But my loyalties are with the side who will win."
"Yes... Drake is a smart one," the Commandant whispered. "You would be wise to follow his example, and prepare for the Alpha Test....which shall now commence."
"Uh...how 'bout...not?" Shade said, and then...he was gone. Just like that, as if he had never even been there. And then, before Resho could even blink, the Commandant went flying straight up into the air, and then smashed back into the earth, and Shade reappeared next to him. "Don't stand around, let's go!" And he took off.
Resho ran after him, and to his great surprise, Drake was right behing them, and the mysterious female close behind him.
After a rather noisy second part of their escape, through which Drake had a much more solid prescence...it was done. They were free, and went their seperate ways. It might seem uneventful, and...it was. But Resho had much more trouble to come. The Commandant wasn't about to let his subjects escape so easily, and sent out an elite unit after all four of them.
But, possibly in part with interference from a mysterious individual, only Resho was found. And when he was, it was with a bang. It was nearly three years to the day when he was found, and he was doing what he always did in his down time. When he wasn't playing his guitar, that is. And that was...training in his crystal form.
And the soldier which found him happened to be a bit explosive-happy, and fired off a rocket at him, THEN informed his commander he had found the target. Naturally, the rocket barely even made Resho flinch, but it did piss him off. Here he was, minding his own business, and some jack-ass fires a freaking ROCKET at him?! COME ON!
And so he turned and charged blindly in the direction the rocket had come from, plowing through most anything in his way. Trees, rocks, and all kinds of rubble were sent flying out of his path. Msotly by his face and shoulders, and he occasionally shoved a larger obstruction aside with his arms. And when he reached the one who had shot the rocket at him, he struck him once. He pulled the punch and so, even though he was sent flying into a tree, he would live.
But, these troops, it seemed...weren't human. And with a buzzing sound, a flare was shot out of the mechanized soldier straight up. And then Resho heard a sound which he recognized from...somewhere. But he just couldn't place it. It sounded like a missle of some kind, but it couldn't be. He looked up, and saw it. "Oh come on...that's just wrong..."
A nuclear missle. How the HELL did they get their hands on this kind of shit? This was...unreal. "Can't let this thing go off...gotta do something..." He charged forward, moving as fast as he could, trying to intercept its landing point as best he could. "Gotta...get there... Okay, here goes nothing..." He looked up and braced himself, and spread his arms. The missle hit him with all the force of a runaway truck, but the head of the missle was stopped a fraction of an inch from his chest.
"Grrh... Damn...this wasn't the best idea..." He shoved against the thrust of the missle, and managed to push it away from him. "Okay...if I can just turn this thing right, I might be able to re-direct it or something so it won't cause any damage..."
"Not likely." And then, with the sound of a rocket being fired, Resho's stomach tied in a knot. "Ah, sonuvabi-" He never got to finish his sentence as the nuke went off. And, as you would expect from a nuke...destruction on a massive scale.
The commander, watching from a few miles away with the assistance of some high-powered binoculars, picked up his radio. "The nuke was used. Target elimination confirmed."
But Resho was still very much alive. Standing in the exact pose he had been when the nuke went off, he was trembling and hsking from fear, shock and anger. Anger that someone would actually do that, shock that he was still alive, and general fear of a damn nuclear bomb going off.
But...with that under his belt, it was official. "I just survived a nuclear blast...at ground zero..." He clenched his fists. "And... I'm better than ever!" He let out a loud whoop. "I AM INDESTRUCTIBLE!" He shouted to the heavens, before dashing away. "Now to get outta here... Radiation and such."
And so, he managed to live a normal enough life. He never knew why he had been captured, by whom, or why they had gone to the extent of using a nuclear missle to eliminate him, but...it didn't really concern him. He didn't care; he was free! Finally, no one was after him anymore! And anyone who knew about his powers was either long-gone or believed he was dead.
In esscence, he had a clean slate for his life. And he intended to live the best damned life he possibly could!

- Sample Role-Play Post:
Sitting in a chair, his guitar on his knees, and waiting. Yep...that's what he was doing, and what he had been doing for a while now. Probably would be for a while. He had managed to get a 'show' here, and, by an unfortunate mistake, he had gotten there six hours early. Damn clocks and being all stupid and confusing him. Why did they even have to have a damn 24-hour clock...? Just one more thing to give him a headache. Ah, oh well...
He looked up, hearing someone come in, but not seeing anyone. "Uh...anyone there?" He looked around, blinking rather dumbly. "Okay, I know I'm not that crazy!"
"Haha! You're still sharp!"
"Shade? How in the... What?!"
Shade suddenly appeared right next to him. "None other."
"Gah!" Resho spazzed and flipped out of his seat. "Con't...DO that!" he whined, but laughed. "Good to see you again!"
"Yup. But, listen... You better do something. Some nutcase is wreckin' your show out there. Smashing up stuff and scaring people off."
"Why didn't you stop him?"
"I'm no hero." Shade said with a shrug, and then vanished.
"Aw, hell..." Resho grabbed his guitar, and strode out of the room, a sour expression on his face. He finally managed to convince someone to let him play, and then THIS happened?! He didn't like violence in most cases, but he'd make an exception here. Oh yes, someone was getting a crystal guitar to the face tonight...
