Yes. I'm quite curious as to what people think of this, a manifestation of my depression and anger, in a sense. The Stranger is an interestign fellow, to be sure. And so, I'd like some opinions on him. All I ask is that, in addition to a vote, you please post and give me any good points, flaws/things that seem strange, general comments, or what you don't like so much. I welcome it all. So please, tell me what you think.
The Basics
Personality
The Stranger, as he is called, is...complex. He desires nothing more than to remain in anonymity, as his name might lead you
to believe. But, he cannot help himself from presenting himself to both the heroes and villains of the world, as an object to
stand against his own personal views of the world's "injustices." And his views are...strange. He sees all acts the same, as merely actions taken. The intent behind them is what he bases his views of "right" and "wrong" upon. If someone were to commit mass genocide for the purpose of avenging someone dear to him, or something of the like, The Stranger would find no fault with it. But if someone were to commit the same act for the purpose of simply doing it, then he would feel motivated to act upon it and stop it.
And when confronting those who are opposed to his "actions" at the time, he is flat and cold, always getting directly to the point. He desires no useless squabbling or conversation about "Pointless" matters, and prefers to either do something about it, or not waste time discussing something that has already happened. As such, he is diffucult to deal with, as he is so opposed to everyone else's views, believing them to be open to edits and flaws due to varying moral codes and personalities.
At his core, it has been suggested by a former psychiatrist that The Stranger has no personality at all. He is a cold, barren
wasteland in his mental area. He feels no emotions, and is incapable of having his judgement erred as a result. His views are always unbiased and based on logic and the given information, almost akin to that of a computer. This leads some people to label him as a "monster" and even "insane" as well as some more colorful words I won't list.
But above all, the most outstanding feature of The Stranger's "personality" is that he always believes that what he is doing is for the best. And he is so set in his goals and way of existence that it is completely impossible to sway him from them. Even persuading him to do anything at all is insanely diffucult, as he has renounced all earthly desires, and given in to the way of the ascetic, only using what he needs from the world which is, effectively, nothing, save for the clothes he wears. and the equipment he uses in his "crusade." Extraordinary Features
Powers & Abilities
- Darkness: The Stranger is at home in the darkness of the world, and of all existence, and has become a literal part of it, and in some descriptions, a physical manifestation of it. He can manipulate it to conceal his appearance, even in broad daylight, as it constantly streams forth is a vague mist from within the shadows of his coat. This gives strong hints that
The Stranger might, in fact, be Umbrakinetic. He does indeed have a large degree of control over darkness, and can even blot
out the sun itself in an immediate area via manipulation of darkness.- Teleportation: Using his manipulation of darkness, The Stranger is capable of warping to anywhere within his line of
sight, or to anywhere he has been before. And, if he can get a solid enough "mental lock" on a person, he can warp to their
location as well. This power is not limited by distance. No matter how great the distance is, if he has been there or can see it, he can go there.- Anonymity: The Stranger has a unique feature about him. When leaving the prescence of someone, he will be immediately erased from their mind, leaving no traces that he even exists. This is useful for maintaining his anonymity, as if no-one can remember him or anything about him...he is in no danger of being discovered. And, for some reason, any written records of him mysteriously disappear and vanish when he leaves... However, if he should once again come into proximity of someone who has met him, then every detail will come flooding back, often accompanied by a headache, and remain etched into their memory so long as he remains nearby.
- Illusionist: The Stranger is a capable illusionist, both involving stage magic, as well as actual, magical illusions. He can produce nearly no end of effects, ranging into auditory, visual, and even physical and mental illusions. He is even capable of locking someone inside their own mind with the illusion of being in a "prison" of sorts.
- Aura of Fear: The Stranger is always emmitting an aura about him which causes an unnatural, unexplainable fear and
uneasiness directed at him. This is perhaps his greatest asset, as it can turn around nearly any battle. With some effort, he is capable of controlling the strength of this fear, as well as who it affects.- Intelligence: Despite his near mechanical outlook on things, The Stranger has a brilliant mind, and can only be called a genius in every sense of the word. If he had a reason to, he could easily learn, comprehend, and most likely advance nearly
any field of knowledge on the Earth today. But without the need to, he will not do so. Advancement for the sake of advancement is of no concern to him.- Healing Factor: The Stranger is blessed with quite an adequate healing factor, which leaves him as able to survive a great deal of injuries and wounds which most others would fall victim to and die. In fact, it is virtually impossible to actually kill him, so potent is his regeneration. Even ripped apart and torn into pieces, he can still regenerate after enough time has passed.
- Superhuman Stamina: Due to his potent healing factor slowing the production of fatigue toxins in his body, he can last much longer in physical activity than most can. He can function up to eight hours before impairment begins to affect him, and up to thirty-two hours straight before he can no longer function without rest.
- Nightvision: Due to his strong connection and control of darkness, it is of no impairment to his sight whatsoever. He can see through even complete darkness as easily as a normal person can see in plain daylight. Perhaps better even.
- Combatant: The Stranger is quite an excellent combatant, mostly at hand-to-hand. But he is also quite proficient at hand-to-weapon combat. He has mastered several styles of martial arts, and trained in many others, making him an extremely skilled and adaptable combatant. He has currently mastered over eight dozen styles of martial arts, and has trained in nearly four dozen more, giving him a near limitless plethora of ways to fight.
To further this, The Stranger is also an exceptional combatant using several styles of weapons, especially staff-like weapons, although his preference is a naginata. He has trained in several styles of combat with staff weapons, and found many of them to be similar in nature, to the point where they are interchangable among weapons of similar size.- Marksman: The Stranger is also possessed of a high degree of skill with several types of firearms. His specialty is handguns, and of them he prefers higher caliber magnums. He is an extremely accurate sharpshooter with handguns, and no slouch with a rifles or machinegun. He is no true master with firearms, but his skill is extremely high.
Weaknesses
- Despite all of his powers, and even his incredible healing factor, The Stranger is still just a human. As such, he can be wounded and harmed just as easily as any other person.
- The Stranger's healing factor has its limits. And though he can recover from nearly any wound, the one thing that he can't recover from is damage to his brain. Should his brain suffer heavy damage, his healing factor would be of no use, as he would be 'dead' completely.
- Regeneration-cancelling weapons are, as always, quite effective. They will put a stop to his healing factor, for a time, and too many wounds from such weapons would leave him quite dead.
- Light. Any form of it. He hates it and despises it, which is why he always wraps himself in darkness. It burns and sears his flesh, and destroys his sight, leaving him blind and damaged. And light seemingly ignores his healing factor, causing damage which is slow to heal.
Equipment
- Naginata: A five foot long wooden staff affixed at the end with a sharp, katana-like blade. Made for reach and speed above all else, it nonetheless packs a decent punch. The Stranger has had his custom made so that the pole is made from vibranium, and the blade made from adamantium. How he got the necessary materials or money to do so will forever remain a mystery... He has christened this weapon "The Stranger's Bite".
- Gas Mask: Yes. A simple yet quite effective gas mask. More often than not he is wearing it, obscured under the veil of darkness which hides his face at nearly all times. This is, to him, "The Stranger's Mask".
- .44 Magnum: Exactly what it sounds like. Nothing more, nothing less. There's nothing special about it, save for the fact that it seems to mysteriously never run out of ammunition...possibly due to his manipulation of darkness providing it with its' ammunition. The weapon has been christened "The Stranger's Vengeance".
- Gas/Smoke Bombs: He has several bombs which contain: Tear Gas, Sleeping Gas, and even plain old Smoke Grenades. They are simple, yet effective. And they are all collectively called "The Stranger's Wrath".
