Norman Osborn
Franchise: Spider-Man [Marvel]
Custom Title: The Green Goblin
Alignment: Villain
Age: Early Sixties.
Gender: Male
Special Abilities: Norman Osborn is a high-level government official with powerful allies. He has super strength, agility, stamina, speed, and dexterity on par with Spider-man. He was also granted a healing factor which allows him to recover from lethal wounds and his already high intellect was increased to super genius levels.
As the Green Goblin, he is armed with a variety of hi-tech devices. The goblin holds these and a variety of other grenades in a shoulder bag he calls his "Bag Of Tricks". He travels on his bat-shaped "Goblin Glider", an incredibly fast and maneuverable rocket glider. The goblin glider is armed with heat-seeking missiles, machine guns, and retractable blades. The Goblin also uses Pumpkin Bombs. A Pumpkin Bomb looks like a miniature Jack-o'-lantern and when thrown, ignites almost soundlessly and produce enough heat to melt through a 3-inch thick sheet of steel. The Green Goblin has a range of other "Pumpkin Bombs" at his disposal. These include smoke and gas-emitting bombs. Some release hallucinogenic gases, while others emit a specially created mixture that neutralizes Spider-Man's Spider Sense for a limited period of time. His gloves are woven with micro-circuited filaments which channel pulsed discharges of electricity at nearly 1,000 volts. His goblin costume contains bulletproof chainmail with an overlapping tunic and cape. His mask has a built-in gas filter to keep himself safe from his own gasses.

History:
Norman Osborn, the original Green Goblin, was the son of wealthy businessman Amberson Osborn. When Norman was still a child, his father lost almost all of the family fortune, claiming to have been cheated and that someone had stolen his invention. Amberson eventually became a drunkard, often lashing out at his wife and son because of his own failures. These events had a severe impact on Norman, planting the seeds of the megalomaniac he would eventually become. He would stop at nothing to regain the family wealth that his father had lost.
Norman attended ESU for college where he studied chemistry and mechanical engineering and soon met the love of his life, Emily. The two married and eventually had a son, Harry Osborn. Tragically, Emily died before Harry’s first birthday, leaving Norman a distraught single father. The loss of Emily caused Norman to re-focus on his plan to attain wealth and power, a decision that left him very little time for Harry. Norman's ruthless business tactics led him to frame the co-founder of his chemical company, Mendel Stromm, for embezzlement, leaving Norman the sole owner of the chemical company, Osborn Industries. Afterwards, he began experimenting with a strength-enhancing formula that Stromm had been designing. However, when Osborn attempted to duplicate Stromm's formula, it turned green and exploded in his face. He quickly recovered and soon realized that the explosion had greatly increased his intelligence and strength. Although given these tremendous gifts, his delicate disposition was tipped and the explosion had driven him insane.
Norman soon became a criminal known as the Green Goblin. He found himself in conflict with the vigilante Spider-man. He went through many battles with his arch-nemesis, even discovering Spider-man’s secret identity at one point. Although he was unmasked by Spider-Man had some point, Norman successfully avoided arrest throughout his career and kept his life as a criminal secret from the general public. Their early conflicts climaxed with Norman murdering Spider-man’s then-girlfriend, Gwen Stacy. The fight that ensued between the two led to Norman being badly wounded by his goblin glider and presumed dead. However, he developed a healing factor which allowed him to recover from the wounds. Norman chose this time to disappear, escaping to Europe where he would become more of a background presence in Spider-Man’s life. He also becomes the undisputed leader of the Scrier cabal, which he utilizes to carry out his revenge on Peter Parker. For the next couple years, Norman waited in the shadows for the perfect time to exact his revenge on his foe.
Eventually, after one of Norman’s more ambitious schemes against Spider-man began to unravel, Norman finally returned to America. Norman would go on to claim in a press conference that he’d been hiding in Europe to escape his enemies and promptly regain his former lifestyle. At this point, Norman began to distance himself from the Green Goblin persona and instead used more conventional criminal tactics to pursue his vendetta against Spider-Man. Eventually, Norman would participate in an arcane ritual in which each participant received one of five possible gifts: power, immortality, knowledge, madness, or death. Norman was unfortunate enough to receive madness. He was driven even more insane and now requires drugs to keep himself in check.
It would be a long time before Norman Osborn was finally apprehended by the law. Whilst in the guise of the Green Goblin, Norman was taken down in a battle against Spider-Man, Luke Cage, and the authorities. He was publicly identified as the Green Goblin and placed in prison. However, this would not be the end of Norman Osborn’s criminal career.
Norman soon made a deal with the government and was appointed to be the new director of the Thunderbolts, a government-sponsored team made up of “reformed” super villains. As the leader of this team, Norman used diplomacy and brutality to sweep his criminal under the run and combat major threats to the country. As Norman became more of a national hero, he slowly grew more powerful and influential. Soon enough, Norman had become one of the most highly-ranked men in the country. Norman has not worn the Green Goblin costume since his arrest and now, there is no need for him to ever do so.
Norman Osborn was one of the most high-profile supporters of the Keene Act. He found the idea of forcing unregistered vigilantes to retire quite appealing. For the most part Norman is considered to be a national hero by the general public, even though there are still a considerably large group of people who distrust him. However, Norman has successfully used the media to keep this dissenters quieted. Currently, he is working to have the Keene act introduced to the other colonies, primarily Terra Lak Tus. If Norman Osborn has his way, every superhero in the galaxy will be either dead or behind bars.[/i]
Sample Role Play Post:
This had not been a good day for Norman Osborn. Today, a large group of masked vigilantes had broken into Norman’s home and ambushed him. They were rebels, trying to start off their superhero careers by taking down the established order. There were fourteen of them, none of whom had super powers but were instead armed to the bone. Of course these people were nobodies. Norman had faced off against far worse. He easily managed to overpower the vigilantes with his bare hands.
Now, Norman stood unwounded, but breathless. The vigilantes were dead. Each and every one of them lied strewn across Norman’s home, lying in pools of blood with their bones shattered. Norman Osborn was not a man who showed mercy.
Breathing heavily, Norman strolled over to his desk and pulled out a bottle that contained his medication. Pouring himself a handful of pills, Norman swallowed them and examined his surroundings. There were an awful lot of brutally murdered men lying in his home right now. But soon, Norman would call the authorities. If everything went as planned, which it always did these days, the vigilantes that attacked him would be recognized as terrorists and Norman would be built up as a hero for defeating them. It was almost routine by this point.
How did you find us?: An IMDB post from the Watchmen board directed me here.
What about you? Anything else?:I copied a lot of this down from Wikipedia. For the benefit of the RP, I've done my best to condense it and integrate Norman into the plot.
