After everything that Captain Kirk had went through, he knew what was about to happen. The Enterprise propelled itself through space. James watched the happenings from the Captain's Chair. Everything was running smoothly. No Klingons or Romulans in site. Calm, which was quite usually for the part of space that the Enterprise was flying through.
Something was in the black, space in front of them. Even though James could not see it, he knew it was there. A powerful object he had not seen since the destruction of Nero and his crew. Everything could end, or they could go around it. At the course they were going, the Enterprise would go directly into it. The black hole awaited them.
No one would die. James would not allow it. Already, James was speaking, "Everyone get to the shuttlecrafts! I'm going to try and get this damn thing turned away from the black hole." Everyone began to depart, and Kirk was already steering the ship around. It was too late, and James knew. Like his father, James had sacrificed himself in the line of work.
The black hole devoured the Enterprise. James expected to feel the effects of it, but nothing happened. Earth had appeared in front of the ship. Had James been transported to the past, like Nero? It was possible as there were no Federation ships around. Only ships with new designs on them. Flying towards Earth, James docked and began to explore the "new" Earth.
Walking out of the Enterprise, Jim noticed he got a few odd looks. It wasn't every day that they seen a ship that looked like that. Women looked at him. Not for the ships or the clothing he was wearing. Jim had that natural affect on them. But he could care less. He was more concerned in finding out about the Earth he was now on.
Standing in the middle of the sidewalk, he looked confused. This attracted attention to himself. Good attention and bad attention. A shot rang out from a gun. It sounded like a normal gun, not a phaser. Several people were shooting at Kirk. Some gang had seen him and wanted to kill him. Most likely to take his ship, but several innocent bystanders had been hit. Fortunately, Jim was not one of these. He had hid behind a small wooden structure, but it would not hold out for long.
