John Shepard pressed himself against a wall drawing forth his pistol. He slid in the thermal clip and turned off the safety. The geth threat wasn't big really, not anymore. However, Shepard had never seen soldiers capable of wielding swords the size of an athlete's body. Then again, they had probably never faced down an asari matriarch or a krogan battlemaster. He rushed up from his spot firing rounds off from his pistol taking down the soldiers in his path.
He slid down and smirked, it was too easy, which meant that something was bound to come around the corner and present a bigger threat. That was standard really. He leaned back and gazed towards the emblem emblazoned upon the doors, "The Shinra Electric Power Company..." He recited before frowning, "So those AVALANCHE guys were right, this is the organization that's trying to mine the resources of the planet to nothing."
He shook his head before standing up. He holstered his pistol before unslinging his assault rifle and slipping a thermal clip into it. Things were soon to get a bit...interesting.

Brief History [Spoilers][/size]
Shepard was born and raised in space with his parents who were in the Systems Alliance navy. When he reached the age of 18 he enlisted in the Alliance military and began his lengthy military service.
Shepard's skill was put to the test when he was on Elysium during the Skyllian Blitz headed by batarians. Shepard managed to hold off the batarian pirates until Alliance reinforcements arrived to drive off the pirates. Shepard was later awarded the Star of Terra for his success in defending the colony.
Years later, Shepard along with Kaidan Alenko and Corporal Jenkins were charged by Captain David Anderson of the SSV Normandy aid a Turian Spectre named Nihilus with recovering a Prothean artifact on the human colony, Eden Prime. Unfortunately, the mission wasn't as simple due to the geth attack led by rogue turian Saren Arterius and the mysterious dreadnought known as Sovereign. Here, Shepard met with Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams. They managed to save Eden Prime from being destroyed, however the beacon was destroyed, but not before implanting images into Shepard's mind.
Arriving on the Citadel to explain both the destruction of the beacon and the death of Nihilus, Shepard stated to the Council that Saren was responsible for the destruction of Eden Prime and the death of Nihilus. However, without proof, the Council ruled in favor of Saren. Refusing to accept that Saren was going to get away with his crimes, Ambassador Donnell Udina and Captain Anderson asked Shepard to find proof of Saren's betrayal. Shepard scrounges around the Citadel making allies of Garrus Vakarian and Urdnot Wrex before finding a lone quarian named Tali'Zorah nar Rayya who possessed information on Saren. After rescuing her, Tali's recordings from a geth audio bank, allowing the Alliance to prove Saren's treachery once and for all. With Saren now rogue and no longer a Spectre, the Council was left in a relatively precarious position, believing humanity to be ill-prepared for the responsibilities of being a Spectre, they were reluctant, but allowed Commander Shepard to become a Spectre.
As Spectre, Shepard was given the Normandy so as to track down Saren. The journey took him to Therum where he rescued Doctor Liara T'soni, the daughter of Matriarch Benezia, a conspirator with Saren. Shepard went to Feros where he saved the colony both from a geth battalion and a native plant called the Thorian which was controlling the colonists. Noverria allowed him to confront Benezia where he learned a bit regarding the ship known as Sovereign., there the Commander spared a once believed extinct race known as the Rachni stating he didn't approve of genocide. The Council sent Shepard to Virmire where he learns of Saren's curing of the genophage, something that greatly upsets Wrex as the Special Task Group and Shepard wish to destroy the laboratories. After a heated discussion, Shepard managed to convince Wrex of why the base needed to be destroyed. On Virmire, Shepard found another Prothean Beacon which helped piece together the missing bits from Eden Prime's beacon. Shepard's squad also spoke directly to the Sovereign, where they learned that it wasn't a Reaper vessel, it was in fact a Reaper. Unfortunately, Virmire's campaign didn't end without casuality as Kaidan Alenko gave his life to secure safe passage of the STG and Shepard's crew.
Shepard was betrayed in a sense when the Council and Udina had the Normandy grounded in order to keep the ships prepared for what was believed to be an inevitable geth attack led by Saren. Fortunately, Shepard was able to steal the Normandy with the aid of Anderson who hacked into Udina's personal computer, at the expense of a few of Udina's teeth.
Shepard and his team flew to a planet called Ilos where they fought through a squad of geth and eventually came into contact with a VI named Vigil. Vigil explained the cycle of extinction and even explained that the Conduit was a backdoor into the Citadel which Saren desired to help gain control of the Citadel. Fortunately, while Saren and Sovereign gained access to the Citadel, so to did Shepard. Traveling to the Presidium, Shepard convinced Saren to end the struggle, to which the former Spectre obliged by shooting himself. Shepard gained control of the Citadel where the Council and the Alliance radioed the commander. The Destiny Ascension was close to being destroyed; however, Shepard prevented this by having the Alliance save the Ascension.
Unfortunately, Sovereign wasn't quite done with Saren, using the cybernetic implants in Saren's corpse, he was resurrected via Sovereign's data being downloaded into it. A lengthy battle took place where the cyborg was destroyed along with Sovereign. A meeting between Shepard, Udina, Anderson, and the Council took place where Shepard was given the choice of naming the next human councilor, to which Shepard happily named David Anderson as the Councilor for the humans. His work wasn't done though, Shepard realized that Sovereign was only the vanguard of the Reapers, thus the Reapers were still out in Dark Space.
